Brunel International Lecture Series

8th Brunel International Lecture Series

Our chief executive, Keith Clarke, has begun his term as Brunel lecturer for 2010/11. The Brunel Lecture Series was established by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in 1999 in memory of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, one of the world’s most respected pioneering engineers.

Delivering his inaugural lecture on 25 May 2010 at the ICE in London, Keith discussed the delivery of a low carbon society: beyond rhetoric.

He referred to the inspirational leadership of engineers of the past, the context that was needed for change to occur and how knowledge was transferred and shared nationally and internationally. He also considered what steps the engineering profession needs to take to implement a low carbon society.
